Joseph Altuzarra’s Fall/Winter 17 collection is inspired by his customer – a complex yet sophisticated women. He embraced detail, art and Renaissance history with rich textures, decadent embroidery and a jewel-toned color palette. The opulent designs were modernized and gave youthful updates with ribbed legwear (which had rips and tears), thick-soled combat boots, circular metal statement earrings and opera-length leather gloves made voluminous with gathered stitches.
Alexander Wang’s Fall 2017 collection was exactly what one thinks of when thinking of the designs aesthetic – model chic apparel with lots of black, leather and chains. Sweatshirt material, graphic tees and catsuits had a dark and punk appeal with bold silver metal chokers and bracelets, heavy layered chain straps on fanny packs, ball studding, furry cold-weather boots and shiny metallic silver slouchy bags all stood out.
DIANE VON FURSTENBERG
Diane von Furstenberg’s Fall/Winter 2017 collection was a cheerful mix of color, prints and patterns. The playful mix-and-match approach stood out in the apparel as well as the accessories. Creating a statement was clearly the theme for the accessories with supersized miss-match earrings, an array of bag charms, key chains and add-on’s as well as colorful printed scarves that wrapped around the necks, ankles and bags.
