“Designing Fashion Accessories” (Schiffer Publishing) offers a step-by-step account of the inspiration for the accessory through the manufacturing along with a gallery including gloves, neckwear, eyewear and belts to inspire your own creative look.

Through color photos, illustrations and sketches from various designers, the book gives you a window into the design world. It also provides tips for shapes and colors, a listing of materials and tools needed to make each accessory featured. On the business side, there are also tips on putting a collection together and visual merchandising at retail. Historical footnotes add context.

The 191-page book is written by co-written by Marta Rodríguez Hidalgo and Gabriel Martín Roig. Hidalgo has been Head for Department and Fashion Director at magazines such as Vogue.  She currently manages a publishing consultant service and teaches Journalism at the Institute of European Design.

Roig is an art historian and author of numerous books of artistic techniques.  He currently teaches drawing for designers at an academy in Barcelona.
