Sketch of Milly for Banana Republic collaboration, hitting stores this May

San Francisco–Banana Republic is certainly open-minded in the eras it chooses to channel!

From 19th Century Anna Karenina this past winter to its third Mad Men collection this March (more aptly called “Mod Men” as the show shifts into a late ’60s vibe), the specialty chain retailer is now going preppy (shall we label this the ’80s?) with its upcoming summer collaboration with Milly designer Michelle Smith.

“We wanted to focus on the vibrant colors and optimistic patterns that highlight the inspiring, fun-loving summer season,” said Simon Kneen, Banana Republic’s creative director and executive vice president of design. “Michelle’s keen sense of color, print and pattern are the perfect complement to Banana Republic, and her Hamptons-chic style is a new take on aspirational summer dressing for our consumers.”

Hitting the stores this May, prices on the 60-piece collection will range from “$45 to $175 for women’s apparel, $24.50 to $64.50 for men wear (a first for the designer), and $39.50 to $130 for jewelry and accessories.”

Women’s offerings will include “maxi dresses, mini skirts and shorts in a rainbow of on-trend colors, including lime, coral, and navy.
