New York—Issa London, a contemporary brand known for its feminine shapes and signature prints and a favorite of Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, is collaborating with Banana Republic on a limited edition apparel and accessories collection to premiere August 6.

According to Banana Republic, the nearly 40-piece collection will combine iconic Banana Republic “effortless modernity with Issa’s feminine shapes and prints. The collection infuses romantic colors with elegant shaping” in styles that will easily transition from summer to fall.

Included in the collection, which will be sold in select Banana Republic stores and online, will be leopard and zebra prints infused with neutral and jewel-tones. The collection runs the gamut from zebra-print, kimono-sleeved dresses to pebbled leather envelope clutches.

Jewelry includes statement gold chain necklaces and bracelets as well as leather wrapped bangles.  Apparel includes petites and will range in price from $69.50 (sweater) to $150 (dress); jewelry and other accessories range from $39.50 (bangle) to $150 (tote).

‘Day to Night’ Dressing

“We were immediately inspired by Banana Republic’s heritage of safari adventures when we dreamt up this collection together,” says Simon Kneen, Banana Republic creative director and executive vice president of design “Issa London’s effortlessly chic style complements our global Banana Republic consumer who is on the go and needs to transition her look seamlessly from day to night.”

The Issa London collaboration isn’t the only UK-based news that Banana Republic reported this week. On Monday, Kneen was awarded a Doctor of Arts honoris causa from Kingston University in London.  A Kingston University graduate, Kneen was nominated and awarded for his 30-year commitment and success in the fashion and design industry. Kneen accepted this prestigious award at an honorary commencement ceremony at the Rose Theatre in the heart of Kingston upon Thames.

“Simon’s sharp eye for detail, astute knowledge of the global market and passion for approaching design from a fresh perspective makes him a truly motivational mentor during his visits to Kingston’s fashion studios,” says Elinor Renfrew, academic director of fashion at the university. “We are enormously proud to be able to mark his exceptional career and contribution to the fashion industry by naming him an Honorary Doctor of Arts.”
