Tee: Vince (long sleeved version and here) | Jeans: Hudson c/o | Shoes: Brian Atwood ‘Laplata’ (old) | Bracelets: Hermes, Miansai c/o | Sunglasses: Celine | Lipstick: MAC Pink Nouveau mixed with Nars Baby Doll
A rather simple outfit, jazzed up by some of my favorite accessories: fancy-ish shoes, my vintage Chanel and a stack of bracelets.
I’ve received a lot of questions about these Brian Atwood shoes and unfortunately, they’re from last year. I searched the web high and low for them, but couldn’t find them available anywhere. Sorry guys! I would keep trying eBay, since that’s actually where I found these (last year), for half the price.

When the weather got to be in the high 70’s this past week, I didn’t even want to look at my dark colored clothing. Not that it was that hot, but the warmer temps had me craving a softer look. I recently got both this powder blue short suit and watch from the new Caravelle New York blush story, so I immediately knew I was going to pair the items together.
Caravelle New York recently introduced the blush story and I have to admit, it’s my favorite to date. The styles still have that little edge to them, which I always gravitate towards, but the combination of blush paired with silver hardware, give it a slightly softer look.

There is nothing worse than riding the subway during rush hour, where you’re crammed in the subway cart like a sardine and getting a seat is a game of chance. I did that for many years and the only way I’d be able to peacefully get through it, was to tune out to some of my favorite music. It was usually something to get me amped and motivated for the day: Beyonce, Jay Z, JT, or some sort of hip hop.
These days, I’m lucky enough to make my own hours (avoiding the rush hour commute), so riding the subway has become something I don’t mind at all. I still listen to my music and I love using the time to catch up on emails or to read a book. I have to say, I’m pretty grateful for NYC’s transportation system, especially since its been by main mode of getting around since I’ve been a teenager.
Fun Fact: New York City has, by far, the highest rate of public transportation use out of any American city and is the largest subway system in the world when measured by track mileage.
And there’s your trivia for the day!

Dress: ASOS | Shoes: Christian Louboutin ‘So Kate’ | Handbag: Valentino | Sunglasses: Celine ‘Caty’ | Lipstick: MAC Pink Nouveau
With a couple of summer weddings ahead of me, I was on the lookout for a dress that was: a) feminine b) whimsical and c) lightweight. Needless to say, when I found this one, I was pretty thrilled! I wanted to keep everything else fairly tonal, so I paired it with my trusty nude pumps and my blush colored bag to complete the look. Done and done!

Staycation

Button Down: H&M | Shorts: ? | Tote: kate spade new york c/o | Sandals: Pedro Garcia | Hat: J Crew | Watch: Caravelle New York
This past weekend, Keith and I stayed back in the city, with a little day escape to my old hood, Rockaway Beach. My father still lives there (my mother recently moved to Brooklyn), so when we go, we pile ourselves and our two dogs into the car and spend the day BBQing and relaxing near the ocean. It’s close by, but seriously feels like a mini vacation. As much as hopping on a plane for a real vacation is preferred, since that can’t always happen, we try to get creative with monthly staycations.
For my outfit: an easy white button down (as always), light weight shorts and my roomy kate spade new york Francis tote, which will definitely serve as my summer “it” bag this year. Being that I leave my house for the entire day, I always pack some essentials:
Staycation Essentials:
*Large beach towel, typically something bright and cheery.
*My favorite Panama Hat: gotta prevent premature aging as much as I can! Something I’m even more crazy about now that I’m in my 30’s.
*Magazines: gave my fashion magazines a little break and opted for an issue of Clean Eating. Trying to get inspired with some summer recipes, incorporating as much fresh fish and veggies as we can. Since we’re now able to grill outside, it makes it so much easier to eat clean. If you guys have some favorite recipes, please share!
*Flip Flops: The few times I’ve worn flip flops around the city, I’ve come home with some dirty feet (gross, I know), so I really prefer not to. When I’m heading out to the beach, I’ll usually wear sandals and bring my favorite flip flops with me.
And of course, plenty of sunblock, headphones and some lip balm with SPF in it.
Lastly, for something a little more glamorous than a staycation, kate spade new york is giving away a dream vacation to Rio.
*the Francis tote is exclusive to the kate spade new york store at 17 newtown in East Hampton, NY, but you can also get it online here.

Wishing everyone a great weekend! What do you guys have planned?

For me: on Saturday, I’ll be going + speaking at Beauty Con on the “Rise of Digital Influence” panel. In the event that any of you are interested in going, tickets are available here. I’m pretty excited to contribute and to see what the day is about since I’ve never been myself.

The rest of the weekend will be spent with Keith and our friends, celebrating birthdays and just hanging out, BBQing and sleeping in. Can’t wait!

Eclairs from L’Eclair de Genie
photo-1
Sharing my last batch of photos from beautiful Paris! I went there with three girlfriends, where we rented an adorable apartment from Airbnb in one of my favorite neighborhoods, Saint Germain. We spent our days walking 8+ hours, going to museums and eating our way through each neighborhood. We were also lucky to have our Paris expert, Angie, on the trip with us. Because of her knowledge, we got to eat and drink at some of the best places. I wanted to share some of my favorites below:

Fish La Boissoniere: One of the best dinners of our trip! All the food was fresh, delicious and innovative, with a charming atmosphere without feeling too stuffy. The menu was all in French but our waitress was kind enough to break everything down for us in English. My friends and I all ordered different things to share and although all the dishes were delicious, the Hake was my favorite! Also, make sure you don’t skip dessert. We opted for the prefix menu and in my opinion, that was the way to go.

13-a Baker’s Dozen: This place is a true gem, tucked away in the back of a charming courtyard. We came here for breakfast one morning and the owner, Laurel, welcomed us with her infenctious spirit. From behind the counter she asks “do you girls like asparagus in your omelet? pepper? tomatoes?” I felt like I was eating breakfast at a friends place topped with fresh biscuits and freshly made juice, located in the most wonderful setting.

Le 404: a Moroccan restaurant with the most fun atmosphere and beautiful decor. The food is delicious, with large portions (I recommend sharing!) and such a welcome change after having nothing but French food the days before.

Brasserie Thoumieux: Classic Parisian, bistro-like setting, located on of the most beautiful streets. Great French food with an interior and ambience to match.

Coffee: in general, I usually have a pretty hard time with the coffee in Paris. Whether I order a cappuccino or a long black, I feel it’s either too weak, too milky or I just didn’t love the taste. I’m not someone who needs a ton of caffeine in a day, but I definitely need (and really look forward to) that morning cup to wake me up. Out of all the places we went to, Telescope was by far my favorite. Not only was the shop adorable, but the coffee (and banana bread!) was on point. Highly recommend!

L’Eclair de Genie: aside from being the most beautiful eclairs you’ll ever see, they’re also the most delicious. Seriously! We were wondering if they taste as good as they look and truthfully, they probably taste better.

And there you have it! A few of my favorites. Thank you for following along!

My favorite way to dress down my embellished (aka fancy) skirts are by pairing them with a simple tee and sweater cardi! I wore this outfit during the day with my booties and then slipped on my nude Louboutins for night. Easy!

Romper: Madewell | Blazer: Joseph via The OUTNET | Bag: Lancaster (if in US – the other red options) | Shoes: Pedro Garcia (so comfy!) | Cuff: Hermes (similar here) | Lipstick: MAC Pink Nouveau

Wanted to give a quick hello! I’m leaving for Paris later tonight and in typical fashion, left packing until the very last minute. I wish I was somebody who was naturally organized and packed ahead of time, but nopeeeee! Don’t think it’s in my DNA.

The weather in Paris is supposed to be in the high 60’s, so I’ll be packing lots of light layers, including this romper I’m wearing. I feel like rompers are one of those things people either love or hate and I’m definitely one who has always loved them. They’re just so easy, while still making me feel put together. Obviously I feel differently when I’m staying true to my New Years resolution and drinking lots of water. I guess you win some, you lose some.

Hope you guys enjoy the rest of your week and stay tuned for some posts from Paris!

When I really like something, I tend to get the item in multiple colors. Whether it’s a pair of shoes  or in todays case, this dress. I picked it up both in white and black and have already worn both of them more than once. Future brides: if you have a bridal shower coming up, or any wedding related activities, I highly recommend! I love that it really acts like a blank canvas and can be worn in a simple way or jazzed up with accessories and some fun shoes. Bonus points for being under $100!

Since many of you have asked me via  email and instagram, I’ll immediately bring the attention to the shoes, that yes, I decided to keep. The laces are still the same as before, but after making a few calls, I ended up on the phone with the Christian Louboutin Customer Service department. At first, I got a little resistance with the woman telling me “the way you’re describing your pair is how I’ve seen them..” but after sending her a picture of BOTH my shoes and a screenshot of the ads, she said she would happily order a new set of laces for me. So now I wait!
Also, normally when Louboutin offers both a 100mm (4inch) heel and a 120mm (5inch) heel, I typically go for the 120mm. I know that sounds crazy, but honestly, that 1″ makes it such a sexier shoe. In this case, I got the 100mm and dare I say, they’re actually incredibly comfortable (for a pair of heels). Quite possibly the most comfortable pair of Louboutins I own.
Let me know if you guys have any other questions! I’ll be happy to answer.
