Accessories CouncilNew York—Every year, the Accessories Council pays tribute to leading designers, retailers, journalists, celebrities and emerging brands who have made significant contributions to the accessories industry over the last year.

The 17th annual Accessories Council Excellence (ACE) Awards are scheduled for Monday, Nov. 4, at Cipriani 42nd Street in Manhattan. This year, for the first time, the ACE Awards will celebrate a “Legacy Award,” which recognizes an individual or organization that has demonstrated excellence and made extraordinary contributions to the industry for 50 years or more.

“The Accessories Council board is constantly discussing and evaluating what is important to the accessories business,” said Karen Giberson, council president. “In order to reflect industry trends, we make subtle changes to our ACE Awards annually. This year we are delighted to expand our retail category to Omni-Channel, as we feel strongly that to be excellent today, you must excel in multiple fields.  At the same time, we felt the need to honor brands and companies that have had a rich heritage. The chance to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Frye inspired us to add the category.”

Other honorees announced this week include:

First ever Legacy Award – The Frye Company (celebrating 150 years)

  • Breakthrough Award – rag & bone
  • Omni-Channel Retailer – Nordstrom
  • Marylou Luther Journalism Award – Hamish Bowles
  • Specialty Retailer– Charming Charlie
  • Retail Innovation – Warby Parker
  • Distinguished Style – Olivia Palermo

Swarovski will participate as a corporate event sponsor. Additional honorees and sponsors to be announced closer to the ceremony date.

Tickets can be purchased by calling the Accessories Council at 212-947-1135 or e-mailing
