Accessories caught up with Shawn Li, owner and President of Zenzii, to discuss the company’s past, present and future.
Jenny, my wife and I started ZENZii eight years ago.
What is a typical day like for you?
I spend most of my days communicating with the people who keep ZENZii running; our team, our vendors, our customers. I am in a constant state of development between developing new products, relationships and most importantly self development.
What is your favorite part of this industry?
My favorite part of the fashion industry is the excitement that comes with the constant change. Every season brings new trends, inspiration is everywhere and the opportunity is endless.
The flip side of the constant changing coin, can be challenging. You think you have the greatest product and three months later is either out or it was such a great idea and now the market is saturated.
What are the newest and exciting changes in the marketplace lately? (i.e. new types of stores you sell, new ways of selling, new technologies, etc.)
The past year we have been picked up by some major department stores and they are using the ZENZii name as opposed to private labels.
Are you launching anything new for Fall/Holiday 2014? (a new classification, new line, new brand, new license, new collaboration, etc.?)In terms of styling, what are you focusing on for the Fall/Holiday season? What’s the newest, exciting trends??
We are doing a lot with various metal designs and materials, such as coated metal and stainless steel. We are also working on some exciting branding opportunities for the company, including launching a retail site.
The ZENZii woman sets trends so we are always inspired by personal style and love the street style movement.
Anything else you would like to add?
Even though Shawn doesn’t wear our jewelry, he does know the importance of accessories and his eyeglass collection is mighty impressive.
