That phrase spontaneously flew into our brains when we saw this spectacular leather handbag—complete with white “war paint” stripe and fur tail—by newcomer Volver Design Group.
Launched by designer Natalia Konovalova (she of Le’Bulga handbag fame) and Nicole Ryder (a former buyer for Saks Fifth Avenue), the line is poised for a full-on attack on the accessories market.
Including leather handbags as well as tough-yet-chic leather apparel, the line is edgy yet wearable, with little signature accents that offer big impact (i.e. “body-piercing” gold hardware that “pinches” the leather together at points).
Opening price point is $299 for handbags and $560 for leather ready to wear and everything is made in New York using Italian leathers.
Volver is not an extension of Le’Bulga, which is still around and “readying for a relaunch,” but a brand “on its own with its own philosophy and aesthetic,” states Ryder and Konovalova. “We envisioned a different customer when designing Volver. She is a sophisticated, urban, professional woman with a busy lifestyle. She is social and needs to always look classic and well put together.”
