Held this Saturday and Sunday, Aug 17 and 18, his awesome Roaring Twenties party/picnic/dance festival on Governors Island offers something for everyone, from drinking Prohibition-era cocktails (hello St. Germain!) to strolling the grounds and checking out incredible era-appropriate vintage cars.
Make sure to dress your 1920s best, street photographer Bill Cunningham is always out in force! And if you’re in short supply of 1920-style accessories, fear not. The area is peppered with vendors selling hats and other items.
How do you get to Governors Island you ask? Take the 1 train to the South Ferry stop, then hop the (free!) ferry across New York Harbor. Tickets to the event are $30 in advance (go to www.jazzagelawnparty.com). Door tickets are $35.
