Paris—Axel Dumas, a sixth generation member of Hermès’ founding family, was named the new chief executive officer effective in May. The 42-year-old scion of the luxurygoods house will work alongside current CEO Patrick Thomas during an unspecified transition period. Dumas, currently chief operating officer, will become joint CEO/COO with Thomas.
“I am glad a member of the Hermès family has been brought in to succeed me,” Thomas said in a prepared statement. “In 15 days’ time I will be 65 years old… for some time I have been preparing my succession.”
Thomas was the first non-family member to run Hermes but he has shown himself to be one of the clan what with his tough stance against LVMH’s taking an unwarranted stake in Hermès.
When Dumas was appointed chief operating officer, many viewed it as a signal he would be the family’s successor. Dumas started his career as a banker in New York and China before entering the family business in 2003 working in the jewelry and leathergoods divisions.
In other Hermès-related positions, Henri-Louis Bauer, nephew to Bertrand Puech, executive chairman of Emile Hermès Sarl, which represents the family shareholders, will replace his uncle.
Brisbane, CA—Bebe Stores named Katrina Glusac as chief merchandising officer, effective immediately. In her new role, Glusac will lead the merchandising, visual merchandising and planning & allocations teams in defining and building the brand’s merchandising offerings across all categories. She reports to Steve Birkhold, chief executive, and will work closely with Brigitte Bogart, the recently-appointed executive vice president of design and product development, in leading the new direction of the brand.
Glusac brings more than 20 years of expertise in product development and product management for contemporary and e-commerce brands. Most recently, Glusac served as chief merchant and vice president of merchandising at ShoeDazzle.com, where she successfully built a new merchandising, design and planning team, improved sell-through and inventory performance and leveraged emerging technology and data-driven marketing to significantly increase company sales. Previously Glusac was divisional vice president and general merchandise manager of Guess?, Inc., where she conceptualized and helped launch Marciano, the company’s first fashion-forward contemporary division Glusac has also held senior merchandising positions at Arden B. and Charlotte Russe, Inc.

Niwot, CO—Andy Sackmann has been named chief marketing officer at Crocs. Sackmann joined Crocs as vice president of marketing in June 2011. Previously he was account director at Crispin Porter + Bogusky.
Since coming to Crocs, Sackmann spearheaded the global e-commerce team that supported regional business generating an excess of $100 million in revenue across 22 international e-commerce sites. He led the creation of an internal analytics team and standardized data methodology to drive results-based changes throughout the e-commerce business. In the traditional marketing space, he worked closely with the regional and corporate marketing teams to connect, define and extend the Crocs brand vision and position to consumers around the globe.

Pappas Appointed CMO, EVP at Caché
Pappas brings over 30 years of retail industry experience to Caché. For the past 10 years, she served as vice president general merchandising manager for Burberry America where she led the company’s women’s business. Under her direction, Burberry America’s recorded strong sales and profitability growth through her ability to collaborate across all business areas and develop a focused assortment that met with increased consumer demand.
Prior to this, Pappas was the divisional merchandise manager of juniors sportswear at Macy’s East. During her career at Macy’s East she developed and implemented a strategic vision for Juniors, worked closely with marketing, Federated Merchandising and Store Operations to create a differentiated statement and to achieve corporate goals. In addition, she identified growth opportunities through a strategy that resulted in significant overall growth and profitability. Before Macy’s East, Daphne spent 13 years at Saks Fifth Avenue in various roles with increasing responsibility. In her most senior role at Saks she held the title of vp/director, merchandise manager of bridge sportswear, coats, suits, dresses, and evening.
