New York, NY—While Chinese New Year doesn’t start until February 10, four select Bloomingdale’s across the country is ringing in the Year of the Snake early with limited-edition merchandise as well as an array of special events and pop-up shops running through Feb. 18.
These limited-editions pop-up stores, curated by the retailer’s own style experts, will feature trendy snake-inspired jewelry, apparel, home furnishings, and more in traditional black, red, and golden hues. Shops will feature some of Bloomingdale’s most popular brands such as 7 For All Mankind, Altru, Audiology, Carmen Marc Valvo Couture, Chaser, J Brand, Kenneth Jay Lane, Maximilian, Salvatore Ferragamo, and others.
“Bloomingdale’s is excited to not only recognize and celebrate this special holiday, but the entire Chinese culture,” says Michael Gould, chairman/ceo. “It is our hope that Chinese consumers and tourists, along with all of our loyal shoppers, will enjoy the festive holiday and culture rooted in tradition.”
The event will take place at select Bloomingdale’s locations: including the one on 59th Street, North Michigan Avenue, San Francisco Centre, and South Coast Plaza. Throughout the celebration, out-of-town visitors can receive a special Bloomingdale’s savings pass and small gifts with their purchases.
In addition, from February 7 to 10 shoppers get to join in on the fun Chinese tradition of receiving their own red envelopes—which symbolize good luck and are believed to ward off evil– filled with various prizes including a Bloomingdale’s gift card worth either $8, $88, or $888 (a traditional lucky number in the culture). Other rewards such as a complimentary Forty Carrots yogurt in a limited-edition Taro Root flavor and a special limited-edition Chinese New Year shopping tote are also up for grabs.
So while you may still have yet to purchase that gym membership from the other new year, you can at least ring in the Chinese New Year in style.
