New York—Are you an emerging handbag designer whose New Year resolution is it to get some notoriety for your handbag designs?
Well, then it’s never too early to start planning your entry into the 7th Annual Independent Handbag Designer Awards (IHDA).
Founded by HBDNetwork (formerly known as Handbag Designer 101), the IHDA have become a coveted prize in the handbag industry. This year, the awards will be presented June 19 in New York in nine categories (see below).
In addition, there will be a special presentation of the 2013 IHDA Iconoclast Award to designer Rafé Totengco.
Since he designed and launched his namesake handbag collection in 1997, Totengco
has expanded distribution internationally as well as into other accessory categories and women’s footwear. In 2010, Totengco was appointed by The Jones Group Inc. to the newly created position of creative director for handbags where he works across the company’s handbag brands to create a compelling product vision. His responsibilities include creating products for the retail, wholesale and international divisions.
This year, the IHDA categories where designer handbag entries are sought include:

●The Best Student Made Handbag
●The Brother Best Handmade Handbag
●The Timberland Best Green Handbag
●Most Socially Responsible Handbag
●Audience Fan Favorite Handbag
Deadline: All entries must be received by 11:59 p.m. , April 27. (Note: Entries submitted without full information filled out will be disqualified.)
