St. Louis–Brown Shoe Co. reported it has acquired the Sam & Libby brand from The Jones Group, reuniting it with its founders, Sam and Libby Edelman.

“This represents closure for Libby and me, a full circle,” said Sam Edelman, founder of Edelman Shoe and division president for the Sam Edelman Division of Brown Shoe Co. Brown acquired the remaining interest in Edelman Shoe in 2010, and Libby Edelman’s return to work for Brown Shoe Co. was announced in August.

For more than 30 years, the Edelmans have not only been life partners but business partners, beginning with the successful launch of the Esprit footwear business in 1983 and again in 1987 with the launch of the Sam & Libby brand. Brown Shoe Co. has acquired the Sam & Libby brand for an undisclosed sum and reunited it with its founders, Sam and Libby Edelman, Brown Shoe announced.

The Jones Group owned the Sam & Libby brand for the last eight years.
