We must be looking for something else to occupy our TV sets than real housewives and Kardashians. NBC, which has exclusive U.S. coverage of the London Olympic Games, reportedly has been averaging 1.4 million viewers than the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta, and 5 million more viewers than the 2008 games in Beijing.
The British are going out of their way to welcome the world, so it seems fitting that we go out of our way to find some fashionable footwear to satiate our Anglophiliac tendencies. (We’re still not over the Queen’s Jubilee either!)
We had to look no further than Santa Monica, Calif. where Brit ex-pat designer Jane Winkworth, aka “The Queen of Ballet Flats,” is paying tribute to her homeland with these European-made, leather flats brandishing the Union Jack.
Like the other styles in her London Sole brand, this Henrietta flat is leather lined, rubber soled and fully adjustable laces. We hear that certain members of the British royal family tuck their toes into London Soles after standing for hours at attention during state events.
We’re betting, too, that the “Fab Five,”—the Gold-medal winning U.S. women’s gymnastics team—is celebrating their Tuesday victory in something comfy too.
As for Kim K. and her ilk, see you after August 12.
