London–The British are coming! The British are coming! Actually, they’ve already arrived.
“Accessible luxury” British footwear, accessories and fashion house L.K. Bennett, is making its big push in the United States, both on the wholesale side and with its first retail boutique in Chicago’s luxury shopping district on The Magnificent Mile.
The brand is well-known on the other side of the pond, with over 100 stand-alone stores and in-store shops in the UK and Europe, plus an e-commerce site at www.lkbennett.com, all featuring apparel, footwear, handbags and fashion accessories. International expansion is planned and the US is a key part of the equation.
The company was founded in London in 1990 by English/Icelandic designer Linda Kristin Bennett, whose venture earned her awards like Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award (Consumer Product category) in 2002; Best Women’s Footwear Retailer (UK Footwear Award) in 2003; and Veuve Clicquot Businesswoman of the Year in 2004; Entrepreneurs’ Entrepreneur award in 2009.
L.K. Bennett comes to the U.S. with a hefty pedigree. CEO Robert Bensoussan previously held top positions at Jimmy Choo, Gianfranco Ferre and Christian Lacroix. Tony DiMasso, president at LK Bennett USA, was previously the COO at Jimmy Choo. Parisian creative director Annick Gorman, held similar positions at Celine, Cacharel and Galeries Lafayette. Shoe designer Michael Lewis is known for his collaborations with Louis Vuitton, Burberry and Gucci.
Styling is classic, classy and elegant, just what we expect from the Brits, and just the style that Kate Middleton is inspiring.
