Allegri challenged the HSFI students to design versatile bags that fit “the modern, fast-paced lifestyle of the brand’s fashion-savvy customer.” The final collection includes a hybrid weekender, a day cutch, a stylish laptop bag and an urban-inspired backpack. Renderings of the submitted pieces were shown during New York Fashion Week, as reported on Accessories News Flash.
The winning designs were produced as part of a ‘limited collection’ and are on display in Saks Fifth Avenue’s 49th street windows through October 26. To support the High School of Fashion Industries, Allegri will donate 15% of total sales of their Fall 2010 collection during this period.
On October 12, Saks threw a reception to honor the winning students of the Allegri design. Supermodel Michelle Alves hosted. To see images from the event, visit our Paparazzi page.
Allegri’s partnership with HSFI is part of the company’s ongoing effort to support and create real-world opportunities for young designers. Last year, Allegri worked with HSFI to launch the successful ‘Allegri April Showers’ program, through which HSFI students designed rain boots and umbrellas.
