Minneapolis—The British are coming to Target. The latest designer brand to partner with the mass merchant is Mulberry, the Somerset, England-based accessories house that plans to introduce its “le style Anglais” handbags in most Target stores and Target.com this fall.
This collection will mark the ninth handbag launch in a series of limited-time-only accessory designers at Target. The Mulberry for Target collection will be available at most Target stores and at Target.com only from October 10 through December 24.
Mulberry is best known to British fashionistas for its handbags and leathergoods since 1971 and has recently expanded its offering to Mulberry apparel and other accessories. Celebrity fans include Naomi Watts, Britney Spears, and Alexa Chung. In fact, Chung, an MTV host and British style icon, was so fond of the line, Mulberry creator Emma Hill designed the “Alexa” satchel bag that quickly became the brand’s hottest “it” bag.
Mulberry joins designers such as Zac Posen, Rodarte, Stella McCartney, Alexander McQueen, Proenza Schouler, Liberty Alice Temperley, Cynthia Vincent and Anna Sui, all of whom has created limited collections for Target.
The Target collaboration, however, isn’t the first time Mulberry has premiered a cheap chic collection. The brand created a previous one for The Gap’s RED charity capsule collection a couple of years ago.
Retail prices and other details of Target’s Mulberry collection haven’t been released.
“At this stage we aren’t able to offer more details on the collection although we can confirm the collaboration is definitely going ahead,” a Mulberry spokesperson says.
