Syosset, NY–CeCe Toppings might sound like a cake decorating company, but that’s because this item really is the icing on the cake.
Like so many accessory items, this company was created out of personal necessity. Jamie Turquie layered a sweater over her favorite button-down and realized she was tired of all the bulk. On impulse, she took some scissors and cut the shirt down to just the collar and a few buttons.
Not that the dickey is anything new (you surely have less-than-fond memories of wearing them as a kid), but CeCe Toppings takes a grown-up, fashionable stance for women.
With collared shirts and layering so prevalent in fashion now, this could be just the item to give women numerous collar options without all the expense (CeCe Toppings retail for $40) or bulk (slim-fit sweaters remain the preferred silhouette with button-downs).
Her designs feature pointed collars, scarf-tie necks and dressier ruffles, in both solids and prints. Of particular note are the rounded Peter Pan collars, which will allow women to try out an of-the-moment fashion trend without committing to a full blouse.
