New York–The February New York Market Weeks, traditionally a department store shop for specified classifications, was changed to begin February 2 after there were some complaints that the second week of February was too close to the March market dates.
According to Sara Mayers, president of Gemini Shippers/Fashions Accessories Shippers Association (FASA), “February Market expanded over two weeks last year by individual retailer choice and it looks like that’s what going to happen in 2015-weeks Feb. 2 to 6 and 9 to 13. Some stores come the in first week and some the second week. Basically, it is the big department stores and they only shop some of the classifications that are being shopped, so each store is just making their own schedule. We have spoken to them and not all of them have the same week in mind. Manufacturers will just have to be ready the first two weeks and go with the flow.”
For review, the 2015 New York Market dates are:
February 2-6, 9-13
The New York Market Weeks are compiled each year by the Fashion Accessories Shippers Association (FASA) together with Accessories Magazine, after much deliberation and discussions with major department stores, industry manufacturers and leading specialty stores.
