HBO “Girls” actress Jemima Kirke and leather handbag brand Hobo have teamed up on a collaboration. The limited-edition handbag collection is entitled ‘love in all forms’ and features 20 hand-painted Hobo bags by Kirke.
When asked about love and the meaning of the collection, Kirke responded: “Love is all kinds of things. There are a variety of forms. I just tried to paint about a few of them.”
Kirke’s collaboration with Hobo marks the bag company’s second collection out of the Hobo Artisans Series, a series which celebrates artists and designers who are invited to create their own collection. The first collection was with Brooklyn tattoo artist, Virginia Elwood, from famed Saved Tattoo. Similarly to Kirke’s collection, Elwood’s bags featured her own original artwork. In addition to promoting creativity, the Hobo Artisan Series also donates 30% of all proceeds towards Project Create, an organization that gives art education to impoverished youth.
“Jemima Kirke exudes exactly the type of unexpected originality and honesty in her craft that I wanted in our next Artisan Series collaboration- unfiltered and so organic to her view of the world,” says Hobo founder Koren Ray. “I could not wait to see how her personality would manifest itself onto leather bags and I am thrilled.”
