As fashion retailers seek to reinvent themselves and expand the scope of their offerings, there are a few niches that come to mind: namely gift, beauty and lifestyle. And these were very much on display at the recent MAGIC Marketplace, where COEUR trade show teamed up with Project Women’s for a capsule collaboration at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center. Due to the section’s success, the collaboration will continue at the February show in Vegas.
Hailed as a “curated selection of home, gifts, apothecary, stationery and tech accessories,” COEUR x Project Women’s offered tight selection of 16 brands.
“Traditional retailers are looking for a way to reinvent their stores now, more than ever. Brick-and-mortars strive to create a more inspirational experience for their customers while shopping. Ready-to-wear stores are interested in introducing lifestyle items into their lineup of products that will complement their existing offerings. PROJECT WOMENS attendees have echoed this interest in tech accessories, apothecary, home décor and gifts, propelling this partnership with COEUR,” shares Kelly Helfman, Vice President of PROJECT WOMENS.
Below, a few things that caught our eye:
Fashion has gone to the dogs, and we mean that in the best possible way! Stone Street Decor is for those who pamper their pets (think $400+ pink onyx dog dish) both for
dining eating and sleeping.
Graphic accents for the home take fashion’s scarves and wraps to the next level. Happy Habitat by Karrie Dean features 50″ x 60″ throws made from recycled cotton at retails of $160, all in bold configurations to spice up any home.
We love seeing art at a fashion trade show, as the two are so intertwined. Dots by Donna features hand-drawn images comprised of, you guessed it, dots. (Donna apparently has a LOT of patience!) Faces of lions, giraffes, zebras, elephants, etc. are artfully cut in half, just waiting to be paired—think lion/lioness combo over the bed.
Another trend we love? Round beach blankets. And while these are often shown in tropical hues, it was refreshing to find something more muted. Based in Australia where beach-going is a high art, The Beach People launched its Bedouin Journey collection, featuring thick, velour blanket/towels that evoke an African safari and are large enough to pivot with every angle of the sun.
“The trend in gift and beauty brands engages a more-involved shopping experience to the end consumer, thus more excitement and demand to shop,” says Henri Myers, Co-Founder and Creative Director of COEUR Tradeshow. “COEUR partnered with PROJECT Vegas to bring to life a fast-growing category in the overall Lifestyle industry including hand-picked brands in beauty, home, gift and tech allowing retailers, from hotels, spas, specialty and majors to discover hand-selected items to add to their store curation.”
