Take a quick glance down: Are you wearing a boring black ponytail band around your wrist? Or even worse, a red rubber band digging into your wrist and pinching the hair? Don’t feel bad, you’re not alone.
Most women at some point create accidental “hair band bracelets,” but one enterprising woman actually turned this reality into a lucrative jewelry business. Founded just last year by designer Shireen Thor, the brand Maria Shireen already sells in over 40 countries. The concept is simple but goes a long way: attractive metal bangles have grooves to hold the simple hair bands.
The Bittersweet signature bracelets are made of stainless steel and come in silver, gold, or rose gold finishes in five metal designs. A teen and tween collection features a fun, BPA free plastic design, available in three different colors. The Luxury Collection comes in two sterling silver styles in three color varieties (silver, gold, rose gold). All come with a simple hair band but can also be paired with women’s existing assortments of bands.
Bracelets start at $12 for plastic styles; $45 for plated metal and $95 for sterling silver.
