New York—Some hipsters, starlets, sex symbol and a movie star cowboy rank among the inductees to the 2016 Headwear Hall of Fame.
The Headwear Association (THA) has announced this year’s inductees: John Wayne, Usher, Justin Timberlake, Christina Aguilera, Kate Hudson and Hedy Lamarr.
“This is the eighth annual Headwear Hall of Fame Induction. Every year, The Headwear Association recognizes individuals known for their signature style, which of course includes wearing a wide variety of hats,” said THA President Charles Rand. “We are excited to welcome this year’s inductees to the Headwear Hall of Fame, which now totals 48 members.”
Members of The Headwear Association nominated more than 50 legendary hat wearers, living and deceased. The THA board of directors voted and approved the final six honorees who will be formally inducted into The Headwear Hall of Fame at the 108th annual THA Gala event at The Central Park Boathouse on April 14.
The THA cited reasons these hat proponents are honored:
John Wayne, almost never seen without his Stetson hat, is the epitome of rugged Western American style.
Usher is regularly spotted in beanies, caps and even the occasional fur trapper. But he is best known for his dapper modern take on classic suits and fedoras.
Justin Timberlake brought sexy back, and he did it in a wardrobe of hats. His go-to styles are fedoras, the stingy brim trilby and ivy caps on the golf course.
Kate Hudson is known for her SoCal cool, boho style. Whether it is a felt floppy at a music festival, a summer straw hat in Malibu or a fur trapper in Aspen, Kate’s hats are a signature wardrobe staple.
Christina Aguilera has evolved her distinctive style from a teen Genie in a Bottle to a chic, modern fashionista. When she is performing on stage, coaching on The Voice, recording in the studio or just hitting the market–her vibrant, sexy style includes a variety of hats.
Hedy Lamarr personifies the iconic glamorous style of the original Hollywood screen sirens. The hats she wore were magnificent creations, and she was breathtakingly stunning in them.” Just Google ‘Hedy Lamarr Hat,’ and get lost in exquisite millinery and beauty.”
