New York–Known for its scarves, fashion accessories and coldweather merchandise for decades, Echo Design Group has been slowly adding other classifications to its mix such as home and most recently, beach and swimwear (which does include fabric and terry beach bags).
This market, Echo has rolled out its first dedicated line of handbags, and in staying true to its roots, the line is textile based with prints inspired by its scarves.
Clare Schultheis, Echo’s managing director of handbags, points to an opportunity for the company. “These bags are super soft, lightweight and comfortable, and there’s a real niche in the market for that.” Retails will range from $78 to $128, with silhouettes including square and north/south totes, shoulder bags, messengers and more.
The initial 45-style rollout features prints adapted from scarves, from tribal to animal motifs. Solid styles will have print linings and vice versa.
