10 Outrageous Earrings from Paris Haute Couture FW18

In Runways, What's New by Lauren Parker, Accessories Magazine

Paris’ Haute Couture shows are always about theatrics on top of beautiful clothes and accessories, but look deeper and there are plenty of directional ideas. Here, a roundup of the most striking earrings that turned our heads (sometimes all the way around):

Jean-Paul Gaultier took hair extensions to an entirely new level with fishtail braids that hung from hoop earrings.

Givenchy’s earrings (both shown as matched and mismatched pairs) were waterfalls of tiny disks

Gui Pei’s wire crocheted earrings took many forms, from decorate shapes to the Eiffel Tower.

Acne Studios didn’t just go for asymmetrical single earrings, but jumbled charm ones at that. Each earring hung from the top of the ear…

…or ones that swagged from one ear to another on industrial-looking chains.

Giant pearls are inching back into the accessories world, and Alexandre Vauthier dangled them off a single chain dripping below a crystal post.

Giorgio Armani Prive took pearls in a more feminine direction although no less dramatic. Here, woven pearls and beads make a giant statement.

Lest anyone think otherwise, the crystal ear cuff is alive and well. Azarro had models wear it on just one ear.

Elie Saab went for singular earrings crafted from hammered gold that was bent, twisted and formed in a free form manner.
