Cry Baby

Cry Baby

Why is it that women in comic books always look so perfect? Almost like a Barbie doll. They’re eyes are always large, their lashes long and their cheekbones chiseled to perfection. When I was little, I wanted to be Veronica Lodge (of Archie comics fame.) I guess I understand why. Because even when a female comic starts to cry, she still looks so perfectly beautiful…

On this breezy afternoon exploring downtown Savannah’s antique shops, I wore a little blue dress. Originally found in Old Navy as a tunic, I wanted to wear it as a minidress. Extremely comfortable. I’m so glad I found it in my size. Isn’t the little owl coin purse too cute for words? I found it in a shop along Savannah’s riverfront, I fell in love. Made with love in Peru. I enjoy supporting handmade creations. πŸ™‚

Your Eyes Should Sparkle and Dance with Laughter

Your Eyes Should Sparkle and Dance with Laughter

How do you look at life?

What makes you happy?

What makes you smile?

What makes you love unconditionally?

.

“People are just as happy as they make up their minds to be.”

.

When I’m feeling down, here’s a list of a few simple things that can turn my frown upside down

into a vibrant smile!

.

Painting my nails. There is something so therapeutic (and calming) about doing this while watching TV or listening to a favorite playlist.

Watching my Favorite TV Show. There are few shows I connect with, but when I do, it’s a keeper. I tend to go for high school centric, dramas and comedies. When I feel the need to pop in something that will make me smile it’s usually: Gilmore girls, Sex and the City or Modern Family. When I want something darker or mysterious. It’s Pretty Little Liars, Dexter and Fargo.

Eating a Salad. One of my indulgences is making myself a large bowl of salad for lunch. I mix in romaine greens, feta cheese, dried cranberries, chopped green onion, shredded cheddar cheese, cherry tomatoes and then douse it all in Wishbone Italian dressing. Divine!

Go to the Beach! Nothing better than the beach. The salt air, the sound of the ocean. A picnic with your soulmate perhaps? Yes, the beach cures most everything.

Kisses and Hugs. Everybody always feels better after a little bit of affection.

Looking at Old Photos. I always enjoy opening up an old photo album of me as a kid. Seeing moments from the past that quickly evoke memories of that childhood giddiness and an instant smile. Like the time my cousin and I dressed up for a halloween party, she was 5 and I was 7. Ballerina and Princess, respectively. Bobbing for apples and trying not to lose our tiaras in the water.

Sleeping. They say if you get enough sleep each night, you can lose weight, look prettier and feel more energized. It also keeps the grumpiness away. So spray those pillows with some lavender, cuddle under the sheets and allow yourself a sweet 8 hours of sleep.

Animals. Maybe you had a bad day at work, or an encounter on the road. When you get home and see your kitten tumbling on the ground out of excitement of your return, you’ll smile. Or when she reaches her paw out to pet you.

Music. I’m pretty sure they’ve run tests on this. A person who hasn’t listened to any good music they personally enjoy in over 48 hours versus the person who listens to their favorite mixes every day has to be a lot more joyful than the former. I know a good song can cheer me up.

SMILE! It’s contagious. You never know how you are affecting someone’s day with just a smile. And hey, you’ll probably feel better for it too. πŸ™‚

Leather Jacket: Maje (in grey) | Sweater: Top Shop (similar) | Pants: Helmut Lang | Shoes: Christian Louboutin Impera | Handbag: Chanel | Sunglasses: Celine | Nails: Essie Lollipop | Lips: Stila Beso
Since many of you have asked me via  email and instagram, I’ll immediately bring the attention to the shoes, that yes, I decided to keep. The laces are still the same as before, but after making a few calls, I ended up on the phone with the Christian Louboutin Customer Service department. At first, I got a little resistance with the woman telling me “the way you’re describing your pair is how I’ve seen them..” but after sending her a picture of BOTH my shoes and a screenshot of the ads, she said she would happily order a new set of laces for me. So now I wait!
Also, normally when Louboutin offers both a 100mm (4inch) heel and a 120mm (5inch) heel, I typically go for the 120mm. I know that sounds crazy, but honestly, that 1″ makes it such a sexier shoe. In this case, I got the 100mm and dare I say, they’re actually incredibly comfortable (for a pair of heels). Quite possibly the most comfortable pair of Louboutins I own.
Let me know if you guys have any other questions! I’ll be happy to answer.

Such a classic piece of accessory. Whether worn in its classic form, with a little black dress a la Coco Chanel or modernized with a Karl Lagerfeld -esque twist on Chanel; it works. Always. Who didn’t love the way Carrie Bradshaw layered a million around her neck on Sex and The City series? Or when she donned them whilst trying on wedding gowns for Vogue? Oh my! Then there is the California way of wearing pearls: think Naomi Clark on the new 90210, who casually throws on a strand or two with a cardigan and fitted pencil skirt. Or me, who will wear them as earrings or stacked on my wrist. Or Gemma Ward looking like a ballerina in the Circus with baubles as large as buoys around her neck. Breathtaking. Then there’s Chanel Iman who pretty much layered strands of pearls everywhere for H&M! Pearls are pretty. The End! πŸ™‚

It’s a good thing Mesenso.com is ready to launch in just a few weeks. We can all get our pretty pearls fix and party. Have fun browsing. I know I will. πŸ˜‰
