Week in Review: 10 to Know

New York—If your name is Diane von Furstenberg, you had a pretty good week. (The only potential name with a better one? California Chrome, the Triple Crown potential).

Von Furstenberg nailed one of the most coveted collaborations in fashion: a deal with Google to use its innovative Google Glass in specially made DVF eyewear and sunwear.

Embracing Technology

“I have always been fascinated by technology and as a brand, DVF embraces technology,” says von Furstenberg. “It is a very natural fit for us and we are delighted to be on the forefront with Glass.”

If the fashion innovator can produce something as iconic as her wrap around dress, then Google will go a long way in repairing criticism that its tech feat is ugly.

Then von Furstenberg, also president of the CFDA, helped once again to steer that fashion association’s annual awards, which have evolved into one of the most highly visible in the industry.

Von Furstenberg presented the Board of Directors’ Tribute to Ruth Finley, in recognition of her 65 years as founder and publisher of Fashion Calendar.
