Item of the Day: Dareen Hakim

A twist on the classic envelope clutch, this Le Bilbao bag by Dareen Hakim has got major edge with brass plates.

Dareen Hakim was born in Beirut and her handbag designs are influenced by Lebanon’s landscape, a mix of old and new–archaeological ruins with modern buildings. The Le Bilbao clutch does just that, combing a classic shape with a modern, industrial touch with the use of unique materials. The name Bilbao comes from a town in Spain, which Hakim has visited, inspired from her travels.

Hakim received her MBA from Harvard Business School, developed her skills and discipline on Wall Street, and worked to advise young businesses and large corporations. Following an early career in finance, she decided to transfer her talents into industry and pursue a lifelong interest in fashion and beauty. After her experience managing worldwide beauty brands (like L’Oreal Paris and Maybelline New York), Hakim ventured off on her own to pursue her dream of building a one-of-a-kind handbag line, her favorite accessory — and we’re glad she did.

This Le Bilbao clutch is more like a piece of art than a handbag!
