Seattle and New York—Although it may seem a long way from the Great Outdoors, New York’s NoHo district is the site of the latest C.C. Filson Co. store, the outdoor outfitter and accessories company.
Located at 40 Great Jones Street, the 1,800 square foot Filson store is the company’s first retail store on the East Coast. Filson’s sixth location is next door to the iconic Beaux Arts firehouse, home to Engine Company 33 and Ladder Company 9 of the New York City Fire Department.
“Filson is delighted with this new opportunity to bring our unfailing goods to the New York City adventurer,” said Alan Kirk, Filson’s ceo. “Founded as a rugged working man’s outfitter, it feels right that Filson will be located next to a firehouse.”
The store offers a variety of signature luggage, leather accessories, apparel and iconic outerwear such as the 100-year-old Mackinaw Cruiser. The store is also the first retail location to offer Filson’s new line of camera bags, developed in collaboration with Magnum Photos. The first four bags in the collection are designed to spec by photographers David Alan Harvey and Steve McCurry and feature custom signature labeling.
Renowned for its Made-in-the-USA products from fabrics such as heavyweight Tin Cloth and warm Mackinaw Wool, Filson is owned by Bedrock Manufacturing which also owns Shinola, the Detroit watch and accessories brand. www.filson.com.
