New York—Time to recognize some power brokers at a power lunch. That’s exactly what Movado Group did Friday as premier sponsor of Variety‘s 6th Annual Power of Women Luncheon in NYC for the second consecutive year. The luncheon inspires and encourages people from all walks of life to get involved, give back and make a difference. The event was hosted by fashion designer Zac Posen and guests included media and entertainment insiders who came to celebrate six of the entertainment industry’s most philanthropic women for their humanitarian contributions and support of social causes.
Women of Distinction Award
This year’s honorees included Oscar winning actress Susan Sarandon (Hope North), Golden Globe and Emmy winners Sarah Jessica Parker (New York City Ballet) and Claire Danes (Afghan Hands), Tony winner Idina Menzel (A Broader Way), Supermodel Iman (Dr. Hawa Abdi Foundation) and A+E Networks President/CEO Nancy Dubuc (Project Rubicon/The Mission Continues).
“I commend all of the women honored here today for selflessly donating their time, energy and resources to benefit these important charities,” said Mary Leach, chief marketing officer at Movado. “It is an extra special privilege to present all of the honorees with Movado’s Women of Distinction Award and to formally recognize their commitments to improving the lives of others. Movado is proud to make a charitable contribution to each of the honorees worthy causes. Congratulations to all of the dynamic and creative women celebrated by Variety this year.”
The event featured Variety’s Philanthropy Bazaar which provides an interactive area for guests to engage with the featured charities and participating brand partners. Movado presented each honoree with a Movado brand timepiece to auction for the benefit of her designated charity. Each watch was housed in a custom-designed gift box signed by celebrities attending the event.
