A juxtaposition of simplicity and multi-functionality? Exploring the tactile world of the city?
If that some a bit heady for a Friday afternoon, you probably haven’t examined the capsule bag collection Pur Sang from Eastpak by Amen Studio. It combines the U.S. sensibility and travel functionality typical of Eastpak with the aesthetic principals of Italian Amen Studio.
Eastpak had organized a “Bag in Town” design competition in 2012 with the Istituto Europeo di Design in Milan, hoping to inspire young designers to rethink the relationship between the bag, its owner and their environment. Of the 400 bags submitted, Amen Studio’s prototype was selected as one of the 6 finalists, winning the chance to develop a complete line together with Eastpak from design to finished product.
The transcontinental collaboration came up with a series of bags including this backpack that features several functions any city dweller would love. The canvas/leather bag converts to a weekender by simple adjustments: roll up the top and unzip the expandable bottom. The handy pocket on the front can hold were folded jacket or sweater (or yoga mat).
