Richardson, TX—The “modern vintage” style has been closely associated with Fossil, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. In tribute to that style, Fossil launched on Thursday a Tin Design Contest where the winner could receive $5,000.

The Tin Design Contest harkens back to Fossil’s graphic design roots, with a theme of “On the Open Road.” Fossil invites its design-minded fans to create their own iconic watch tins inspired by American travel of the ’50s and ’60s: vintage automobiles, roadside diners, and the sights along Route 66.

The watch and accessories company will judge submissions on originality, creativity, and representation of Fossil’s modern-vintage style. The top 30 designs will be posted in an online gallery for public voting and will be produced into actual tins to be displayed at Fossil stores and events throughout the year. A microsite,, details the rules and regulations and will also host the gallery and voting.

The single grand prize winner will receive $5,000. Two first place winners will receive $2,500; and, the two second place winners will receive $1,000 each.
