New York—Want to hear that rich Tim Gunn voice in person? (Admit it, you do!)

All kidding aside, Project Runway’s fashion mentor/co-host Tim Gunn is a wealth of fashion knowledge and you won’t want to miss him as he teams up for a dynamic talk with the esteemed Valerie Steele, Director of the Museum at FIT.

The two will be speaking at the Brooklyn Museum, Thursday, January 30,  7 pm at the Iris and B. Gerald Cantor Auditorium, 3rd Floor.

Behind the Scenes Glimpse

Together, they will offer a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the fashion world, about which they both have extensive experience.

Tim Gunn is a fashion consultant, television personality, actor and voice actor. He was on the faculty of Parsons The New School for Design from 1982 to 2007 and was chair of fashion design at the school from August 2000 to March 2007, after which he joined Liz Claiborne as its chief creative officer. His s popularity on Project Runway led to his spin-off show, Bravo’s Tim Gunn’s Guide to Style, as well as his book A Guide to Quality, Taste and Style. He provides the voice of Baileywick, the castle’s steward in the Disney Junior television show Sofia the First.

Valerie Steele is director and chief curator of The Museum at the Fashion Institute of Technology, where she has organized more than 20 exhibitions since 1997, including Shoe Obsession (2013), Daphne Guinness (2011), Gothic: Dark Glamour (2008); Love & War: The Weaponized Woman (2006); London Fashion (2002), and The Corset (2000). She is also founder and editor in chief of Fashion Theory: The Journal of Dress, Body & Culture. A prolific author and a Yale Ph.D., Steele has authored or co-authored more than a dozen books, including A Queer History of Fashion: From the Closet to the Catwalk (Yale, 2013), Shoe Obsession (Yale, 2013), Fashion Designers A-Z: The Collection of The Museum at FIT (Taschen, 2012), Akris (Assouline, 2012), and many more.
