Fashion Week Breaking Trends Spring 2014: Ancient Odyssey

Dolce and Gabbana spring 2014
Milan Fashion Week–Dolce & Gabbana didn’t just take a trip to Sicily (again) for inspiration, they took a trip back in time. Ancient Roman columns, coins and even ancient ruins pop up as prints and embellishments. Branches of flowering almond trees put the scent of spring in the air, adding femininity to the masculine overtones (don’t those giant coin belts and breastplates make you think of gladiators in the Colosseum?). Look for coin prints, coin belts and coin jewelry moving forward. For more on this trend, check out our Ancient Odyssey trend board, which we used as a predictor of Spring 2014 trends.
