New York Fashion Week—TGIF!…although we have to admit despite running around to runways to the point of exhaustion, there’s always a let-down when New York Fashion Week ends.

Fortunately, it doesn’t truly end since we continue to harvest new and interesting trends, directions, items, etc. and how they are influencing the industry at large. Below, as a recap, are some of the emerging trends that we’ve indicated are most influential so far. From casual, updated treatments in denim to sweet plaids and floral panel prints.

And to get more in-depth about leading trends in accessories, our own Accessories Directions presents the five key trend boards for Spring/Summer 2014.

Off the runways, other news this week centered on big sales. Namely the investors who plan to buy Neiman Marcus Group for $6 billion. Meanwhile, Hudson’s Bay Company hopes to close on its purchase of Saks Inc. by year’s end.
