Editor’s Blog: Moms (and Babies) Need to Look Stylish Too!

New York—OK, I know that Accessories magazine doesn’t regularly cover mom/baby stuff, but since most of our readers are women, and many of them moms, I wanted to share some of the great things I found at a recent baby product event. Some are fashionable, some are functional, and all are just so darn cute!

Pretty Pushers gownLet’s start at the beginning, shall we? Pretty Pushers are for D-Day (Delivery Day), when you’re not necessarily feeling your most beautiful. Swap this for your hospital gown and you’re ready to go!
Epidural not included.

Guava MittsEven the smallest babies (we’re talking one-day old) have fingernails, as the scratches on their faces will attest. Just wrap your kid’s precious hands in reversible Guavamitts by Guavakids overnight, or anywhere in public really if you’re a bit of a germaphobic mom.
Velcro keeps them snug and the patterns keep them adorable.

Pickled Peas

I’ve heard of fashion to drool over, but Pickle Peas is fashion to drool ON. You know how traditional drool bibs basically cover up  every cute outfit, thus ruining all photos? This actually BECOMES the outfit. Snap on the interchangeable waterproof bibs to the snap-able tops and you’ve got your fashion shot right there!

Evie insulated lunchboxWant your pre-mom fashion mojo back? Check out this new line of super-chic insulated coolers (for toting milk around), super-stylish diaper bags (for toting everything else around), and a changing clutch (for concealing a fold-out changing pad). Evie Bett has all your mom needs covered, and you’ll still be able to use it as a chic lunchbox when you return to your day job.

AllerMatesWristbands

Created by a mom of a child with debilitating allergies, AllerMates wristbands have snap-in charms that alert teachers, classmates or strangers to that child’s allergy. A cute solution for a serious problem, stack ‘em or use the multi-charm bracelet for unlucky kids with numerous allergies. The company also makes lunchboxes with adorable cartoon characters stating things like “I’m Wheat and Gluten-Free.”

pish_posh_mommy_diaper_clutch_mainI am just loving all the graphic prints that Pish Posh Mommy offers. Perfect for those sweatpants days when something, somehow, somewhere needs to look stylish! And what mom doesn’t want to match her diaper pad to her diaper clutch?

SayCheese

When two philanthropists had kids of their own, they teamed up to help teach kids about different social issues. Mightee Kids partners with a new charity every month to create an original graphic tee based on the charity’s cause. For example, Smile Train tees (shown, above) teach children about cleft lip and cleft palate problems, with each t-shirt sale giving $5 to the cause. Each boxed gift set comes with materials to help teach your kid where that $5 is going and why. You can also buy an ongoing subscription that offers a discounted tee each month for each new cause.

Tivoli Couture memory foam stroller liner in At the Zoo pinkPimp out your kid’s ride in style with fashionable Tivoli Couture stroller pads, available in tons of interchangeable patterns. Thick memory foam keeps your little prince or princess super comfy and in style. And since they’re easily removable, they’re easy to wash and keep sparkling clean!

Willow Creek Studio

And for the sweetest memento of all, send your child’s adorable t-shirts and outfits to Willow Creek Studio and they will craft them into a personalized memory blanket or quilt. And through its Give a Hoot program of owls made from recycled clothing, the company donates one stuffed owl to a needy child after each sale. Custom owls available as well with materials from your kid’s closet. Now that’s a wise choice.
