Parsons to Honor Hudson’s Bay Company Prez & Proenza Schouler Designers

proenzaNew York—In what’s sure to be a great night for fashion and budding designers everywhere, Parsons the New School for Design will honor Bonnie Brooks, President of the Hudson’s Bay Company, and Parsons alumni Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez of Proenza Schouler at its annual Fashion Benefit on May 22 at Pier Sixty, Chelsea Piers.

As a highlight of the benefit, a select group of graduating students will present their thesis collection in a lively fashion show. In addition, the student with the top thesis collection of the graduating year will receive the Designer of the Year award.

Brooks, McCollough and Hernandez are being recognized for their creativity and contributions to Parsons, the fashion industry and philanthropy. Past honorees include Donna Karan, Reed Krakoff, Francisco Costa, Diane von Furstenberg and Marc Jacobs.

Already in its 65th year, the Parson Fashion Benefit raises funds for scholarships at Parsons, a global leader in art and design education.

The event can be considered a sort of homecoming for McCollough and Hernandez, winners of the CFDA Vogue Fashion Fund award in 2004 and the 2007 CFDA Womenswear Designer of the Year Award, as the duo behind Proenza Schouler met while studying at Parsons, eventually collaborating on an award-winning thesis which became their first collection.

As President of the Hudson’s Bay Company, where she oversees Lord & Taylor in the U.S. and The Bay in Canada, Brooks has spent her career building high-end retail names across the world. Despite being one very busy lady, Brooks still found time to raise $17 million for charitable organizations.
