Leading up to February 14 (a.k.a. V-Day), consumers are planning to show their affection for small businesses by shopping small for their gifts and their special night out, according to a study by American Express.
American Express’ OPEN Shop Small Valentine’s Day Monitor found that 91% of consumers believe it is important to support the small businesses in their communities.
When consumers were asked why, 25% of respondents said it was because the people who work there are friendly and “greet me by my name.” Twenty-three percent said they shopped small because staff know them and make personal recommendations.
