New York—Many credit designer Eric Javits, inventor of Squishee packable hat with making hats viable for 21st Century wear. It’s the same kind of ingenuity that has he’s brought to this other accessories categories such as handbags, footwear and, now, small leathergoods. Celebrities including Angelina Jolie, Alicia Keys, and The Kardashians are often seen in Eric Javits creations.
The small leathergoods line is a natural complement to Eric Javits’ other collections. All Eric Javits products are packable and designed to mix and match, enabling women to effortlessly pull together their look.
Products in in the small leathergoods line include Javits’ patented Squishee braid trimmed in rich Italian leathers, which coordinate with his handbags. Available styles range from travel essentials such as a chic passport cover ($33) and compartmentalized jewelry envelope ($79), to an assortment of wallets (starting at $66) and a mini brossbody ($129) handbag that is perfect for running around town. Overall retail price range is $75 to $325.
When asked how the license for small accessories came about, Javits says: “Specialty stores have been requesting small accessories in my signature material, and the perfect opportunity finally arose when Risa Alper, buyer for Marmi Stores, connected me with Lodis, who now holds the license for the collection.” Combining Eric’s designs with Lodis’s expertise in this category, the small accessories line was carefully developed to be released for Spring 2013.
While the collection will officially launch at The Coterie trade show on September 19 to 21, Neiman Marcus has already previewed it and will be carrying an assortment for next Spring.
Sales projections will not be assessed until after November market, however based on popular demand for Eric Javits designs and the patented Squishee material, great acceptance is expected for this extension of the Eric Javits brand.
“Small accessories are essential to keeping women organized – our customers are pleased that we are now offering a complete line to coordinate with their favorite bags, shoes, and hats! I am looking forward to growing this category in the seasons ahead,” says Javits. www.ericjavits.com
