Las Vegas–Has your iPhone become too pedestrian? Then check out TAG Heuer LINK, the luxury Swiss watch company’s new touch-screen smartphone, engineered like their watches in high-tech style. After all, why leave the smart phone tech race to Silicon Valley?
Operating on Google’s Android operating system and featuring quick-load web pages and even instaneous Skype messaging, the LINK phone is engineered “like the case of a TAG Heuer watch: fully shockproof and airtight.”
The luxury handset is engineered like the case of a TAG Heuer watch, with a beveled construction and alligator leather backing. It also features an airtight, locked-down construction like a caseback. Style details also reference the watches, including handset screws that echo those on the chronograph casebacks. The autolock side system, which accesses the SIM card, connection port and the memory card, features the TAG Heuer’s shield in black lacquer and looks like a classic TAG Heuer timepiece crown.
Other features include lightning-fast connectivity, 16-million color screen resolution, a large 3.5’’ display, a high-definition 5-mega-pixel auto-focus camera, 11 hours of music play time, and download access to over 250,000 applications through the Android marketplace. It also comes loaded with customized screen designs, widgets, animations, wallpapers, icons and ring tones.
The LINK will be sold in the new TAG Heuer store in Las Vegas beginning this month. Retail price will be roughly $6,800 after Euro conversion.
A Master in Technological Innovations
TAG Heuer has long been known for its technological innovations fused with style, so its leap into the smart phone world isn’t all that surprising.
Founded in Saint-Imier in 1860 by Edouard Heuer, TAG Heuer has set many major milestones of high-end watchmaking, especially in the field of chronographs and ultimate precision. It is the first watchmaker to master luxury chronographs with an unsurpassed precision of 1/10th, 1/100th, 1/1,000th and 1/10,000 of a second.
From the Olympic Games in the 1920s to its role as official timekeeper for Formula One in the 90s and the legendary Indy 500 race today, TAG Heuer, in a constant quest for innovation, excellence, performance and prestige, continues to aim ever higher. This is reflected in its partnerships with F1 team Vodafone McLaren Mercedes and its World Champions Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button, Audi Sport in the Le Mans 24 Hours endurance race, and the Automobile Club de Monaco with the prestigious Monaco Grand Prix. Now actively engaged in the Monaco Grand Prix, the Le Mans 24 and the Indy 500, TAG Heuer is ‘’Mastering Speed’’ on motorsport’s 3 most iconic racetracks. TAG Heuer is a privileged member of the Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie (FHH), the most exclusive club in the Swiss watchmaking industry.
