Scheduled to hit 230 H&M stores worldwide and online on Nov. 15, the Margiela capsule collection will consist of women and mens apparel and accessories. The latest collaboration continues a tradition that H&M began by offering “masstige” guest designer collection from the likes of Marni, Versace, Viktor & Rolf, Stella McCartney and Karl Lagerfeld.
Saying that the collaboration between the Swedish retailer and the Paris-based fashion house “will surprise all,” Margareta van den Bosch, creative advisor at H&M, said “Maison Martin Margiela is one of the most important and influential fashion houses of the past three decades. I am so excited by this collaboration which will give fashion lovers around the world the chance to wear special pieces by Maison Martin Margiela. This collaboration will be a great and memorable fashion moment.”
Margiela, the brand’s Belgium-born founder who mostly kept out of the public eye, left the brand in 2009. Known for its signature label small piece of white cloth printed with the numbers 0 to 23, one of them circled, Maison Martin Margiela continues to make conceptual fashions with deconstructed pieces.
