Las Vegas—You’d think that with her hosting duties on “Dancing with the Stars,” the “Golden Globes,” and the “Miss America Pageant” along with being a mom to four children, Brooke Burke-Charvet would have enough things to do.
Evidently not. Besides her Baboosh Baby fitness for moms business and her new lingerie line, intiMint, Burke is introducing a jewelry collection with Chad Allison, the New York-based fine jewelry manufacturer.
“I like to be bedazzled whether it’s the daytime or nighttime,” said the 40-year-old model and actress at her collection’s launch last week at Luxury by JCK show here. “I had been interested in doing a jewelry collection that would be something I’d really wear and yet would still be affordable.”
The folks at Chad Allison, known for its filigree gold jewelry and bridal, were looking for something similar. Burke’s 100-or-so piece collection is manufactured much like the 18k gold jewelry Chad Allison is known for, only it’s made from sterling silver, 14K gold touches and 18k gold overlays with colored gems and Swarovski zirconias. Retails: $75 to $2,500. (A portion of the sale proceeds from her collection will benefit Operation Smile, where Burke serves as an ambassador).
Burke played a key design role in the collection, adding in pieces and concepts that appealed to her and her friends. “I think jewelry should be thoughtful and sentimental, too. That’s why we incorporated spiritual and symbolic elements such as a hamsa, zodiac and other timeless elements.”
Many of these charms can be clipped onto bracelets or necklaces, she added. In fact, Burke said she’s always ready to capture inspiration for her jewelry and other endeavors when she sees it. “I’m an iPhone photo addict! I snap photos of everything that inspires me.”
Burke, who along with partner Derek Hough won season 7 of “Dancing with the Stars,” said she can’t wait for the upcoming fall season of the show, which will feature an all-star cast.
“And yes I’ll be wearing jewelry from my collection on the show—watch out for it.”
