Initial Success: Bottega Veneta Offers New Monogram Line

Consumers can select leather and monogram colors

Milan—Bottega Veneta has made a niche for itself in luxury leathergoods by emphasizing its leathers, silhouettes etc. rather than touting its name through monogrammed goods.

But the company, whose motto is “when your own initials are enough,” launched last week a new Initials collection which takes its credo a step further.

Its Initials collection combines the brand’s signature handcrafted intrecciato nappa with the individuality of a monogram.

Women, for instance, can choose from two intrecciato nappa shoppers, an array of wallets and other small leathergoods, and a belt (Retails: $350 to $2,150). Each piece is hand-woven of nappa leather and back-lined with suede on the interior.

‘Customer-Centered Philosophy’

After a consumer selects which leathergoods silhouette she wants, she then can choose from four leather colors: nero, ebano, blood red or antique white. Her initials are available in eight shades: white, nero, ebano, indigo blue, sunset yellow, blood red, antique pink, and Irish green. Consumers can use one color for all the letters or mix things up, whatever suits them to a T–or S,R, H, etc.

Initials are available on an array of leathergoods

“I’m excited to be launching Initials because it allows us to take the customer-centered philosophy of Bottega Veneta one step further,” said Tomas Maier, creative director. “The service is truly personalized and the process is fun. The best part is that the products look great.”

The Initials service will also be offered for luggage beginning in July.

First presented in a special pop-up shop at the Salone del Mobile furniture exhibition in Milan last week, the Initials collection will be sold though Bottega’s e-commerce sites in the United States, United Kingdom and Japan through a special dedicated microsite: www.bottegavenetainitials.com/
