AmericasMart Plans Social Occasion Expansion, Bridal Event

Atlanta—The AmericasMart Atlanta is positioning itself to capture the fast-growing social occasion business, including prom and bridal.

In addition to adding a 40,000-square foot expansion to its social occasion showrooms, AmericasMart is delving further into the bridal market by hosting a bridal market and special events on Sept. 20 called “VOW—New World of Bridal.”

“The Social Occasion expansion and Bridal Market launch moves Atlanta Apparel to a new growth trajectory of incalculable potential,” says Jeffrey L. Portman, Sr., president/chief operating officer of AMC, Inc., parent company of AmericasMart Atlanta. “These investments in creating deeper, richer, more exciting product selections and a market experience of even greater resonance are our chief commitments to an industry perpetually in search of all things new. The time for this is now. And the place is unquestionably here.”

As part of the Social Occasion expansion, the Mart will open additional showrooms on Floor 12 of Building 3 by the August 2012 Market (August 9 to 13).

Here Comes ‘New World of Bridal’

“Social occasion continues to be among the most robust segments in the apparel industry as indicated by the strength of our past few August Markets,” says Lori Kisner, senior vice president of Leasing for Atlanta Apparel. “Our showrooms need adequate space to show their extensive line selection on runways, so we are expanding our social occasion collection to an additional floor—90% of the atrium space already is committed.”

Floor 12 will be anchored by: Allure Bridals, Mori Lee, Maggie Sottero and Sherri Hill. In addition to these anchors, other showroom expansions include Faviana, Helen’s Heart, Xcite/Impression Bridal, La Femme, PC Mary’s, Alyce and Nina Canacci. Among the new showrooms opening in August are: Johnathan Kayne, Clarisse, Morrell Maxie andSydney’s Closet. Both Floors 10 and 12 will feature a mix of prom, bridal, special occasion, homecoming and pageant.

“Atlanta is definitely the place to be for prom and special occasion. We always have a great show for both our bridal and prom lines. There is just a certain excitement in the air at the Atlanta Market,” says Nikki Deeds, marketing director for Allure Bridals, Inc.

On Sept. 20 to 22, the Mart will premiere VOW—New World of Bridal, featuring a range of bridal fashion situated in permanent bridal showrooms on Floors 10 and 12 of Building 3. A program of special education directed toward bridal and special occasion retailers including fashion events and promotions will be part of the new bridal fashion and accessories market.
