Bergdorf Goodman Hosts Polyvore Window Display Competition

Bergdorf Goodman Polyvore Window Display Challenge

New York–Think you can design a better holiday window than Bergdorf Goodman’s unbelievable window designer David Hoey? Yeah, good luck…

No, we’re not being snide, we’re being supportive! The luxury retailer is hosting a (virtual) window design contest with Polyvore and there are just five days left to enter.

Known for its extravagant themed holiday window displays, this year Bergdorf Goodmans is taking shoppers, dreamers and window gazers alike on a “fantastical ride through vintage futurism, featuring 19th century space travel, Victorian aviation and the wonders of the Industrial Revolution.” Contestants are invited to make collages that coincide with this theme, using provided art on Polyvore that includes flying machines as well as fashion and accessories from the store itself.

Bergdorf Goodman’s Women’s Fashion Director Linda Fargo, window designer David Hoey and the store’s tweeter @Bergdorfs will select one winner, who will receive: a $2,500 Bergdorf Goodman gift card, an autographed copy of the new limited-edition book Windows at Bergdorf Goodman by Linda Fargo and David Hoey, an invitation to the book signing and holiday window unveiling party at Bergdorf Goodman in New York on Thursday, November 18, 2010 (for the winner plus a guest), and a private tour of the holiday windows by David Hoey on the evening of the holiday window unveiling.

Creations are posted on Polyvore’s Bergdorf Goodman page, and all images have a click-through technology that will take the visitor to the retailer’s site to view and purchase the item (minus the fantastical flying machines, of course). Scroll to the page bottom to see some of the 1,300 entries. Regarding competition rules, entrants need to just use at least two images from the ones provided.

Bergdorf Goodman will feature the winning entry on its Facebook, Twitter and the Bergdorf Goodman blog, 5th/58th.

You have till Friday, November 12, so start day dreaming, or day “tripping” and get those creative juices flowing!
