New York—As the fashion industry gets so much of tomorrow’s talent from graduates of the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), they’ll be happy to know that the school just received a generous gift from one of its own to help students promote their skills.

The funds will support the college’s annual spring runway show, held this year on May 2 at FIT, which showcases the designs of students about to graduate with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree in Fashion Design.

FIT alumnus Calvin Klein (class of ’63) just made a $1 million donation through the Calvin Klein Family Foundation, which was matched by a $1 million donation by Calvin Klein, Inc.

“The annual FIT fashion show is the culmination of the very best of the fashion design students’ accomplishments during their studies at FIT. This fund is dedicated to ensure that the FIT fashion show will continue to be the students’ showcase to our industry without compromise,” said Calvin Klein. “I am very proud that Calvin Klein, Inc. has joined my family foundation in this effort.”

In addition to Calvin Klein, other acclaimed FIT designer alumni include Reem Acra, Brian Atwood, John Bartlett, Dennis Basso, Stephen Burrows, Francisco Costa, Norma Kamali, Michael Kors, Nanette Lepore, Ralph Rucci, Austin Scarlett, Daniel Vosovic and many more. Other well-known FIT alumni include Leslie Blodgett, Tony Chi, Nina Garcia, Chris Madden, Roxanne Lowit, Candy Pratts Price, Robert Verdi and Joe Zee.
