Old Navy hopes to help Americans look a little more patriotic this Fourth of July weekend while helping supply comfort items to U.S. troops. Through July 5, when any one purchases a stars and stripes T-shirt at any of the retailer’s more than 1,000 stores, Old Navy will send another shirt to one of our troops overseas (up to 500,000 T-shirts).
In addition, Old Navy stores is working with Operation: Care and Comfort and all its stores are serving as collection sites for comfort items needed by troops serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. Among the “troop essentials” being sought: underwear, undershirts, T-shirts, socks, sunglasses, lip balm, foot power and flip-flops. Many of these items can be purchased at Old Navy in special under $10 display set-ups in the front of every store.
As an added incentive, any consumers who make a donation at the store get a 10% discount on their entire purchase that day.
Operation: Care and Comfort is an organization operated through the Silicon Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross. It sends monthly care packages to adopted military units while serving overseas.
