Dream away this summer with a pair of chic, albeit philanthropic, shades. BCBGMAXAZRIA and its eyewear licensee, ClearVision Optical, have created the Dream sunglasses to support Susan G. Komen for the Cure, with 25% of the $100 shades donated to the cause, and a promise of a minimum of $100,000 donated to the charity
The sunglasses, which are being sold from August 2010 through September 2011, come in wine and black, with the BCBGMAXAZRIA metallic logo emblazed on the temples. However, the best part of these oversized, movie star-esque shades are the inspirational words silk-screened inside the glasses. With phrases like “faith”, “hope”, “achieve”, “rise up” and “impact” etched alongside the signature pink ribbons, seek no further than your eyeglasses for a little rainy day motivation. The glasses come in PVC soft squeeze cases.
This isn’t the first year that fashion powerhouse BCBGMAXAZRIA has shown its philanthropic side. Along with ClearVision Opticals, the design maven has produced three past sunglasses for the cause, and has donated over $150,000. Proud of all the companies have done, David Friedland, ClearVision Optical’s president, says, “It is an honor to be part of a cause that touches so many. We look forward to continuing to make strides and help make a positive difference and, one day, even find the cure.”
