Kate Middleton Wins Hat Person of the Year

Kate Middleton wore a maple leaf hat for a Canadian visit

New York–Hats off to Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, who just won The Headwear Association’s 3rd Annual Hat Person of the Year.

As the striking new duchess has been driving hat trends ever since she stepped into the royal spotlight, her win is no huge surprise. However, the lead she took over the other nominees was definitely impressive.

In The Headwear Association’s online poll, Middleton received 91% of the vote, beating Rachel Zoe (4%), Ne-Yo (2%), Justin Timberlake (1%), Bruno Mars (1%) and Charlie Sheen (1%).

To see more of Middleton’s stylish hat choices in 2011, visit the Headwear Association’s blog.

Favorites include the wine-colored velvet hat by Rose Cory that Kate wore this Christmas, and a maple leaf headpiece by London milliner Sylvia Fletcher of Lock & Co., established in 1676. Naturally, this hat was worn on a visit to Canada.
