We’ve always been smitten with all things Drew Barrymore, so when she started wearing fun fabric bowties as her signature neckwear last summer, we took notice. Then we spotted her still wearing them in the trailer for her new movie “Going the Distance,” which is out this August. And of course Carrie Bradshaw Preston wears one in “Sex and the City 2” when she dons a tux as the “best man” for Stanford and Anthony’s wedding.
So we’ve got bowties-for-babes on the brain. But its the bona fide bowtie-on-a-chain necklace that has our attention as a cute little microtrend. We’re just thrilled that accessories designers have been feminizing bowties–possible as an update after “Gossip Girl” put a bow in every schoolgirl’s hair.
Jewelry designer Amanda Eufer has come out with a line of fun grosgrain bowties in her new line Euforia. From colorful plaids to sleek solids, all are encrusted with Swarovski crystal accents for a bit of asymmetrical bling. Suggested retail: $85. www.euforia.us.
So grab hold of this youthful menswear-meets-cute-gal look and tie one on. Then take a bow.
